Darin Mercer is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ascend Blue Consulting, LLC, bringing more than 26 years of distinguished service in law enforcement and a strong academic foundation in leadership and community development. Darin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, combining real-world law enforcement experience with the administrative and organizational skills needed to guide others toward professional success.
An honor graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Class 98-135, Darin continued to advance his professional education through the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the prestigious FBI National Academy Class 276.
Throughout his career, Darin served as a Patrolman, Bike Patrol Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer (FTO), and Chief of Police. With over 22 years as an FTO, he developed a passion for mentoring new officers and helping them transition from training to confident, capable professionals. His leadership has always been grounded in integrity, accountability, officer safety, and personal growth.
At Ascend Blue Consulting, Darin applies his combined field and academic experience to guide both aspiring and current law enforcement professionals. His consulting services focus on helping clients navigate the hiring process, strengthen their physical fitness and interview readiness, and improve critical skills such as report writing, time management, search and seizure, and officer safety.
